Kelley is a relatively new artist, having recently completed an intense apprenticeship at the Royal School of needlework in Hampton Court Palace. Her work reflects her passion for stitching by hand; using diverse materials including silk and gold, linen and leather. The natural world and the human form are recurring themes throughout her collection as are the flowing shapes inspired by Art Nouveau. Kelley hopes that by exploring the symbolism and sacredness in everyday life, the traditional role played by embroidery throughout history in marking significance events will find new opportunities and a growing audience.
