Galleries of Australia

Due to be published July 2011

An entry in the second edition of Galleries of Australia will provide:

At least two years advertising in a fully illustrated, highly respected colour publication (The equivalent UK Guide was first published in 1992, now in 10th edition) 

An opportunity to bring your Gallery to the attention of an increasingly discerning, buying and commissioning public in Australia, the USA and Europe

The Guide will be available through all good book shops, museum and gallery shops, mail-order & the internet

2 free copies for every participating gallery, further copies may be ordered at trade price

1 trade price copy for each participating maker

Each double page spread costs
A$750 + GST

Once you have read these guidelines and decided to take part please click here to register.

 

Please select at least 5 makers to join your section (see sample spread below) or 10/11 makers if you require two spreads.

 

Take/collect high quality images at a min of 300dpi of your gallery ( interior or exterior or both) and of work by your selected makers

 

Please keep the deadline for emailing your entry material in mind - all material should be at the BCF office by the end of OCTOBER 2010

Gallery Page (see LH of A)
Each gallery owner should submit a MAXIMUM of 180 words to describe their gallery; plus one or two gallery images which will be used in the panel beneath the text, alongside the gallery details. The latter will be taken from the entry form; it is therefore vital that you fill in the form - see RH menu and choose PDF or on line
entry form.

Artist/Designer Maker's Page (see RH of A)
The first maker's page will be opposite the gallery page and can accommodate up to 5 images ONLY - with the artist's/designer maker's name and a max of 10 words description per image.

Artist/Designer Maker's Pages (see B)
If you choose to take extra pages these can promote a further 5 or 6 of your regular artist/designer makers. An extra 150 words can be included either with more information about the gallery or about one or more of your artist/designer makers

Materials Specification

Material Specification
All material should be supplied digitally, text can be prepared in Word, Quark, any Mac compatible document or InDesign.

Images should be supplied as RAW, JPEG's or TIFF's at a MINIMUM of 300dpi. It is essential that the original photo has been taken at a minimum of 300dpi to achieve a crisp, clear and bright printed image.

Please label all digital images clearly with your gallery name and makers’ name where relevant. Please consider your text carefully at the initial stage and keep a copy.

N.B.

BCF Books will design the layout of your pages for you. Every effort will be made to tailor your entry to suit you and your gallery; to create the most satisfactory design with your material which will then provide the most efficient advertising for you. Please send material by or before END OF OCT 2010, with an application form which can be filled in on-line and emailed direct plus a deposit of A$375 GST, our Australian bank details will be on the
application form.

 
Schedule for Galleries of Australia 2011/12

April ‘10 Preliminary approaches to invite galleries to participate

April '10 - Oct ‘10 Galleries to compile entries end October '10 COPY deadline for receipt of text, images and deposit at BCFBooks - copy can be sent at any time prior to this date

Feb '11 Proofs and invoices (as PDF files) will be emailed to galleries

By end March Corrected proofs to be emailed to BCF Books, with payment via BAC's

April Corrections will be made, indices finalised and final colour proofs checked

May/June Printing will take place in Hong Kong and books will be shipped to distribution agents in Australia & UK

July/August Publication of second Galleries of Australia Guide
